An Important Balance of Career Building

and Self-Care.

A key element of the Hayama Artist Residency is a group exhibition during your stay to highlight your work and that of the other artist-in-residence. Your application will be reviewed by our director and Selection Committee - a cohort of international curators and arts professionals.

“Since 2012, my family has made annual trips to Hayama, Japan. It’s a tranquil and transformative place with a rich history. Lately, the world has felt bleak and pessimistic. The Hayama Artist Residency is about awakenings and opening new pathways. I want to give artists an exciting experience to look forward to, as well as the opportunity to broaden their perspective. I believe artists deserve the time and space necessary to recalibrate, think big and see the world with fresh eyes.”
