Anna Zorina
Founder, Anna Zorina Gallery
Anna Zorina founded her eponymous gallery in New York’s Chelsea neighborhood in 2013. Anan Zorina Gallery represents contemporary emerging and established artists who allow for intuition and intelligence to coexist. She works with artists who do not set themselves apart from but rather engage with the world through strong constructive responses to aesthetic, cultural and personal questions.
Originally from Minsk, Belarus, Zorina studied foreign affairs at the Belarusian State University and worked in business after graduation. She came to the United States in 2008, moving to New York City and quickly made a name for herself within the contemporary art world. Zorina worked at Dillon Gallery and Mary Boone Gallery, where she became Associate Director in 2010.
Three years later, she opened her own gallery out of her desire to launch artists’ careers. Zorina has committed herself to fostering emerging artists at the beginning of their careers, mid-career artists and those who are under-discovered. Her Eastern European origins gave her respect for the weight of history, but as an American citizen, she is also interested in the idea of reinvention. Zorina values artists who strongly reference art history, while challenging tradition in respects to medium or subject matter.
